Hassle Free Feeding Services focuses on establishing a
positive feeding relationship between caregiver and child. We are and less
concerned with the amount of food eaten than the pleasure of eating. Our program offers a bridge to navigate
through the individual challenges that each family experiences when a child is
struggling with food. We validate the frustration and feelings of failure that
many caregivers experience when their child is not a typical eater. Some common questions: Why can’t I get my child to eat?
Why do I hate feeding my child?
Will my child ever eat successfully?
The Hassle Free philosophy is built on trust between caregiver and child and is based on the idea that feeding is the parent’s responsibility and eating is the child’s responsibility. If adults control, force, or make a child a child eat, eating is no longer the child’s responsibility. The loss of this control often leaves kids feeling helpless and they eventually become even more resistant.
Hassle Free recognizes that behavior is the language through which children and adults communicate – especially when a child is unable to verbalize their needs and feelings. Often there is disconnect between the language of the adult and that of the child. A child’s behavior communicates simple messages; stress, pain, fear, pleasure, satisfaction. Whereas adult behavior can communicate frustration, stress, impatience, task dislike, pressure, disappointment etc. Adults frequently do not understand that children are not trying to undermine, get even, or make life difficult at the table. Children do not seek to make adults their “puppets”. Children are simply trying to get their needs met, but may be doing so in a way that creates stress and hassle in the family. Hassle Free attempts to help parents meet their child’s feeding needs with less stress and more understanding.
